Project

Just thought I would show you all a project I did recently. I got this little table for free from someone.

It's paint was starting to chip and get everywhere, so I had to sand it.

whew' harder work than I thought.

I let Carter pick out the color. He picked a nice bright blue and I finished it off with some speckles of different colors on the top, to add character.

cookbook

My sister in law Kelly, posted a blog a while ago about cookbook cleanup. (click on it for more details) So I did the same. I found 3x5 photo slip covers at staples and took my regular 8x10 slip covers and made my own cook book of recipes. Can i just say, it has made my life soo much easier. I just finished putting a cover page on it today so I know which way is up so I dont dump my extra recipe cards out everytime I grab it upside down. lol

Here it is

Awesome Kitchen gadget

So I have been looking for a new grater, cuz mine was crappy and finally broke.
I found this awesome grater for only $7 at albertsons on sale after New Years.

so it is very sturdy because it is a standing box grater. So you can push as hard as you want to shred yoru cheese or whatever , and it wont bend the metal. It has rubber lining on the edges and and soft grip handle so it wont break like my plastic lined one did.

But that is not all!! it came with a little container to grate stuff into..... and there's more the container has a lid so if you have leftover shredded stuff you can pop it into the fridge and save yourself some more shredding trouble.

sorry pics are a little blury I had my camera on a weird setting.

1/4 c flour

Blend on high speed for 4 min.

turn to low and add

2 eggs

2T sugar or honey

1/2 tsp. salt

1 tsp. baking soda (I used a little less because I could kinda taste it in my first batch)

2 tsp. baking powder

2 T. oil or applesauce

* add fruit , nuts or cinnamon for extra fun flavors.

the kind of nuts ihop uses i think are pecans .. maybe walnuts.

cool little toy

Here is a cool little toy i found how to make on babycenter. It is for Haven but as a good firefighter should.. Carter agreed to help and model the toy for me. :) It is just a cup with a hole in the bottom. and I used a big sucker stick. you can use a dowell or anything similar.
Then pop comes out the little puppet. Just fabric stuffed with cotton and googlie eyes.
It is like a not soo scary "jack in the box" idea.

definately a toy that you should play with your baby. not let them play with alone because the eyes could be a choking hazard.

Orange Pancakes !

Growing up my Dad would make one of two things on Christmas morning.: Deep fried french toast, or "tangerine pancakes". Because of the time of year we would always have tangerines or oranges. You just zest one orange or 2 tangerines and add it to your pancake batter. it isnt an overpowering flavor, just a little zip! Very yummy!
