Out with the old...

I thought I had a better picture of my dressers before, all put together, but couldn't find it, so here they are taken apart and getting ready to prime. Here is the history of our dressers.
So when Tim worked as a carpet cleaner for his dad he was cleaning for a lady who was moving out of her house, she happened to mention she was moving into a house of a guy who died and left everything he owned in it, and she was going to be giving it all away since it was some older stuff. She asked Tim if he needed any furniture or anything, and he said well actually we could use some dressers, and she was like Oh good because we have a ton. So we scored these 3 dressers and 2 night stands for free!! Granted they stunk like smoke for a while and are really old, but heck they were free! I do like the detail on the face of the dressers, but the color and knobs are outdated, so for the past 4 years we have wanted to paint them but never had the time or whatever other excuse. Finally we decide on Tims day off we could pain them, so we bring them all downstairs and take them apart and take knobs off of them all and set them out in the back yard on tarps and ..look off into the distance and see a nasty rain cloud coming! Ugh, so we hurry and move into the garage. You may be thinking why didn't we do that in the first place. They would have been able to dry so much faster in the sun rather than out in the garage, but whatever it works, just postpones us by a day and because of the 4th of July a whole weekend.
So Tim painted them :

with grey primer because we didnt sand them....

And then black matte. even without knobs it still looks better right?

Now since these dressers were free and aren't that nice to begin with we didn't want to spend alot of money on them so we spent a total of about $40 on paint and supplies, but now to the expensive part..Knobs! The knobs we had before were brass and really ornate but outdated and unique, it was going to be hard to find replacements and not spend a fortune, so we decided to just go with cheap round ones but we needed like 40 of them. the old handles had two holes to hold them on but we just put one knob in each hole. So we went to Lowes and found these ones for only 49 cents a piece! Score!

because of the way this was built the drawers rub against eachother and because we used water based paint it scuffs easily but still I think they look so much better!
